Drunk Driving Accident Case Solved after 17 Years
Thanks to the efforts of a crime victim advocate, the person responsible for killing an Air Force retiree 17 years ago has been identified.
According to the news sources in San Antonio, Texas, the victim advocate never gave up hope of locating the suspect. The accident, which happened in 1993, took the life of a 55-year-old retiree in San Antonio. Although officers were surprised to receive a tip after so long, the tip proved to be successful. The man responsible for the drunk driving accident had fled to Mexico many years ago, but had attempted to re-enter the country under a new name.
When officers detained him, they were able to extract a blood sample to match to the DNA obtained from the crime scene 17 years ago. After the DNA proved to be a match, the 40-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges. He has since pleaded no contest and is expected back in court later this month for sentencing.
