Several Injured during Car Accident Following Boy Scouts Meeting
Tragedy struck a group of boy scouts and a scoutmaster last week after driving home from a meeting.
State troopers reported that the driver, a father to one of the six Boy Scouts that were in the SUV at the time, was driving along Interstate 10 when he had a fatal heart attack. As a result, the vehicle swerved off the road. The driver was later identified as 55-year-old assistant Scoutmaster Luther Young.
While the six teenage boys had to be airlifted to University Hospital, they are reportedly in stable condition and expected to be released shortly.
Although the car accident is still under investigation, Trooper Deo Cockrell believes that all six boys were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision which likely saved their lives, he added.
