Mother Suing Over Taser-Related Death

The mother of a man who was killed as a result of being repeatedly tazed by a police officer has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against that officer and is seeking a jury trial in the case.

According to official reports, the officer and the young man who was killed got into an altercation and the officer felt it necessary to taze the a man into submission. When the young man supposedly did not respond to the initial taze, the officer repeated the electric shock several times before realizing that the young man had become unresponsive.

The mother's lawsuit claims that as a result of being tazed multiple times, her son suffered an asthma attack that filled his lungs with foam and blood, killing him. The family of the young man has protested police presence in their neighborhood and claims that the death of their son was unprovoked, though the Sheriff's office holds that the officer followed protocol.

The woman is suing for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical bills, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of future companionship, loss of love, grief, funeral expenses, and court costs.
