Older Woman Hit and Killed While Crossing Street in Wheelchair
An older woman that was a regular patron at a fast food restaurant was recently struck by a car in front of the store. News sources now say that the 53-year-old woman did not survive the injuries she sustained in the pedestrian accident. Several eyewitnesses saw her crossing the street in her wheelchair after visiting the restaurant she so often frequented. For some reason, she turned into a westbound lane and was immediately struck from behind by a car. Following the collision, the driver of the car stopped and ran out to see if the woman was alright.
At this time, the driver is not facing any charges as police believe the woman was at fault for the accident. Employees at the fast food restaurant told police that she ate at that same location at least twice a week. She would come by bus and always ate by herself. Police remain uncertain as to why she did not cross at the crosswalk although it appears as though she may have been trying to catch a bus.
